Milk Bar

Cereal Box Packaging Design

For my packaging design, I created a cereal product for Milk Bar, a chain bakery and dessert chain. I based the cereal on their Birthday Cake and B'day Cake Truffle products. I changed the original Milk Bar logo to resemble the Kellogg's logo and placed it near the top of the box. The company's entire name is spelled out rather than simply "milk," and the lower case "m" in front is changed into a capital letter. For the Birthday Cake wordmark, I made the letters all caps and added a dark background behind the letters to incorporate contrast to the text. I based this design off the big and bold typefaces used by other cereal brands, such as Frosted Flakes and Cap'n Crunch, to attract more attention in the grocery store. Below the wordmark, I added the word "cereal" to clarify that this product is not a baked dessert item. The cereal resembles the B'day Cake Truffles in appearance but is actually made of cereal grains with added cake batter flavoring and sprinkles. The featured mascot is an anthropomorphic Milk Bar Birthday Cake with eyes and a mouth. To the right of the cake there is a cloud with a call to action encouraging the consumer to "celebrate every day like it's your birthday." The mascot is encouraging other to celebrate every day by buying the cereal. Near the bottom of the page, there is a bowl of cereal. More milk and cereal pieces are being added to the bowl. The bottom left corner features the weight information. For my side panel layout, I included both the logo and product wordmarks near the top along with the nutritional information. For the color scheme, I used the white, pink, and cream colors featured on Milk Bar's website, as well as the yellow cake and sprinkle colors featured in their actual Birthday Cake products.
